Basel: Quetta was stillborn

Sad news from the Basel Zoo: the baby of the 17-year-old rhino Quetta came on the night of 13 to 14 July 2010 dead to the world. The birth itself was rapid and uneventful. Why the baby was born dead, an autopsy will clarify. After Batschii daughter, born 2nd September 2004, currently living in Madrid, it was the second baby of Quetta.

In the coming days, the baby of Ellora, 28 years old, mother of Quetta is expected. Hopefully when it all goes well ...

As early as 2004, when mother and daughter of another young bull Jaffna soon after received, so again this time with two ladies of the Jaffna dad. In the final stages of pregnancy, the rhino cows this year, however, no longer understood. They had to be separated. So for one of them a few hours outside in the pool, the other inside the house, after which virtually changed places.
