Sad news from the Chester Zoo: the first five-year-old bull rhino Patna was euthanized this week.
Patna on 21 July 2004 in Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde born. The shattered only a day old baby Mama Betty with a clumsy movement of the forefoot. The rhino baby had to remain so for weeks in the animal hospital.
He has never fully recovered from this debris fraction. Through growth and weight gain of the injured bone in the course of time increasingly unstable. Patna had been becoming worse and worse because of problems caused by this violation on 4 November 2009 will be euthanized.
