Vienna: A different kind of family reunion

On 23 July 2009 was the intense heat (in Vienna, despite the hottest day of the year) time again, Sundari, 6 years old, and Jang, 13 years old, were briefly allowed in the grounds together for.

Thus, the two gradually get used to each other. If the two bear could sooner or later, a small jet rhino baby rhino in the park around. But to the extent it could be, however, it will take at least 1.5 years ...
Under the watchful eyes of district manager, animal trainer and zoo veterinarian (accompanied by a camera team that recorded for the VOX series people, animals and doctors ) made passage door, the outdoor enclosure opened in. Sundari and Jang were initially out of the way, not particularly interested at the other.
Until it was too boring Sundi well, and she began to annoy Jang. They hopped around in front of snorting Jang and tried again and again, about 300 kg heavier Jang to wrangle the challenge. Such a nose-to-nose and horn to horn of strength when about two tons of meet each other, well ...
As Sundi was cheeky and before the calm and gentle Jang lot of patience to beat, the two were again separated from the tutors. Here one could see how great the regular training effect in the rhinos. It will probably take a little while, until the two rhinos have become accustomed to each other and are possibly closer. The reproduction is not tied to armored rhinos seasons, the gestation period is 16 months. Indian rhinos are in the age of about 4-6 years (females) or 7-9 years (male) sexually mature. In age, the Vienna rhinos were already so far. But as long as such a cheeky and irreverent Sundi Suse against the Jang, it is probably some time in Vienna "only" two Indian rhinos give yet.
After all the action Sundari grazed obviously in good spirits and fully aware of their part of the hotel grounds. Then it rose in the pool (with the great red car = "art project"), just to the edge, and begged to the visitors.
